Streaks
Overview
A streak is the number of days in a row your child stayed within their daily screen time limit — the same days that earn coins. It is a plain count with no extra math attached: a long streak never makes a single day worth more coins.
How It Changes
- A day within the limit extends the streak by one — it's the same day that earns 5 coins.
- A day over the limit breaks the streak back to zero.
- A day that couldn't be measured — no screen time limit was set, or usage data didn't sync — is frozen: the count neither grows nor resets. It holds exactly where it was until the next day that can be measured.
That third case matters: a gap in KidMoat's data should never look like a broken rule to a child, and a parent shouldn't be told their child failed a day nobody could actually judge.
Breaking a Streak
If the streak breaks, the count returns to zero and starts again on the child's next good day. Coins already earned are always kept — nothing is taken away when a streak ends.
An off day, a change of screen time rules, a holiday, or a device problem can each end a streak, and no coins are lost when it happens. If streaks break week after week, it's worth checking whether the limit itself is realistic for that child.
Streaks and Rewards
Some rewards are priced in streak days instead of coins — 7, 14, or 30 consecutive days within the limit. Choosing one of these does not reset the streak or spend any coins. It simply raises the bar: the next reward of that same length needs a whole new run. If the streak breaks afterward, that progress resets to zero as well, so it's worth saving a long streak for a reward worth waiting for.
