Smart Alerts
Overview
KidMoat sends smart alerts to the parent device when something important happens on the child's phone. Alerts are prioritized so you get notified about critical events without being overwhelmed by noise.
Alert Types
Tamper Detection
Triggered when the child tries to disable or work around KidMoat:
- Permission revoked: A required permission (accessibility, location, usage stats, device admin) was turned off
- App uninstall attempt: The child tried to uninstall KidMoat Child
- VPN disconnected: The web filtering VPN was manually disconnected
- Device admin removed: Device administrator privileges were revoked
Tamper alerts are high priority and always create a push notification. They also affect the child's Device Health coin score for the day.
Purchase Alerts
Notified when your child installs a new app or makes an in-app purchase:
- New app installed: Shows the app name and category
- In-app purchase: Shows the purchase amount (if available)
Offline Alerts
Triggered when the child device loses connectivity:
- Device offline: No heartbeat received for an extended period
- Possible causes: Device powered off, airplane mode, no internet connection
Geofence Alerts
Triggered by location events:
- Left safe zone: Child departed a geofenced area
- Entered safe zone: Child arrived at a geofenced area (configurable per zone)
Alert Settings
Customize which alerts you receive:
- Push notifications: Toggle on/off per alert type
- In-app only: See alerts in the dashboard without push notifications
- Quiet hours: Suppress non-critical notifications during specified hours
Viewing Alert History
All alerts are logged in the parent dashboard under Alerts:
- Filter by type (tamper, purchase, offline, geofence)
- Filter by date range
- Each alert shows the timestamp, type, and description
