Reconnecting a Shared Phone

Reinstalling or Signing In Again on the Same Phone

KidMoat recognizes the physical handset itself. If you reinstall the app or sign out and back in on the same shared phone, KidMoat restores every child who was enrolled on it automatically — you land back in parent mode with the switcher ready to go, and there's no re-pairing screen to click through. The children's device connections come back dormant; nothing switches into a child's mode on its own, you still tap through the switcher as usual.

Signing In With a Different Account

If the account you sign in with doesn't belong to the family this phone was already set up for, KidMoat doesn't guess. You're offered the choice to start a new family on this phone rather than have it silently claimed for a family you're not a member of.

Removing a Device

From a child's device list in the parent app, you can remove a specific device — useful for an old phone that's been replaced. Once removed, it's no longer treated as that child's device; a new one is added the normal way, either by choosing "this phone" for a child who doesn't have a device yet, or by generating a fresh pairing code.

Moving a Child Between a Shared Phone and Their Own

Not supported. Once a child is set up on a shared phone, there's no path to move them to a phone of their own (or the reverse) without starting over: removing the child and adding them again as new, which resets their screen time history, coins, and streak to zero. If you think a child will get a phone of their own soon, that's worth deciding before you set them up as shared.
